While pursuing masters in Data Science at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Amber Nigam and Jie Sun bonded over sharing the same passion and vision towards public health. They co-founded basys.ai at the Harvard Innovation Labs to transform the efficiency and quality of healthcare through AI.

Amber Nigam, CEO

Amber is an entrepreneur with over twelve years of experience in healthcare and AI. Currently leading business development and strategy for basys.ai, he previously co-founded kydots.ai and served as its CTO before its acquisition. Beyond his professional ventures, he actively mentors startups in the Techstars, MIT, and Harvard ecosystems. Amber's work has been recognized with awards and fellowships, including the 40 under 40 Health Catalyst Award from the Boston Congress of Public Health and the Cheng's Fellowship by Harvard Kennedy School. He has also been featured as a guest speaker at public events on healthcare and technology organized by Mayo Clinic, TEDx, MIT, and DuPont. Amber holds a master's degree in Health Data Science from Harvard and has instructed at MIT.

Jie Sun, COO

Jie Sun’s career has been rooted in healthcare for the past ten years. She has a unique blend of experiences in healthcare consulting, pharma, and health data science. Previously, she was a healthcare operator internationally, managing the strategic medical business of Pierre Fabre in five countries. As a health data scientist, Jie worked at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Mass General Hospital and instructed AI at Harvard. Jie was awarded 40 under 40 Health Catalyst Award from the Boston Congress of Public Health. She judged for the MIT 100K Entrepreneurship competition and the SLINGSHOT 2023 deep tech competition. She leads the Women’s Initiative at the Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs Association.

Beth Ginzinger

Beth serves as the Chief Transformation Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. She was the founder of Radiant, an international-based staffing solution for care management (now part of Accenture), and Prosano Health Solutions, an Advanced Primary Care model integrated with Arizona Blue. She also led Anthem’s provider joint ventures, including Vivity an innovative integrated product offering including 7 previously competitive top health systems in the southern California market.

Ruth Williams-Brinkley

Ruth served as president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States and has more than 40 years of executive experience in health care. Prior to Kaiser, she served as CEO and chief nurse executive with various health systems across the U.S., including CommonSpirit, Ascension Healthcare and UAB Health System. Ruth has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and a Top Women Leader in Healthcare as well as by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of their Top 10 Most Admired Healthcare CEOs.

Leo Anthony Celi

Strategic Technology Advisor

Leo is a Principal Research Scientist and Clinical Research Director at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Laboratory of Computational Physiology. He leads efforts to utilize ICU data for research, notably the MIMIC database. Leo co-founded Sana, an organization that uses technology to improve healthcare in low- and middle-income countries. He also directs courses at MIT, emphasizing global health informatics and electronic health records analysis.

Heather Mattie

Strategic Technology Advisor

Dr. Mattie is a Lecturer in Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health. She is a prominent researcher at the intersection of biostatistics, data science, and network science. Her work involves applying network science and machine learning to study community interactions, artificial intelligence in healthcare research, and algorithmic fairness, particularly concerning underrepresented groups.
